Portfolio

My training at Brushstroke Makeup and Hair academy has provided me with a 2 year Btec, Level 3 Diploma in production art makeup and hair, as well as extensive knowledge of the Film, TV and theatre industry.  My skill set includes;  Wig knotting, wig setting, hair punching, wig styling and application, bald cap and partial bald cap application, sculpting and creating my own moulds for gelatine, probondo, latex and silicone prosthetic pieces, pro-bondo application; as well as period, theatre, fashion/editorial and bridal hair and makeup styles.  Throughout my training, I have applied my skills as a hair and makeup artist in a few work experience opportunities but am looking for a position to extend on my passion in creating and applying special effects. I have always enjoyed creating gruesome looks and having been given the opportunity to create my own prosthetic pieces was incredibly fulfilling. I learnt the entire process of creating prosthetic pieces for film and TV. Face casting,  creating both positive and negative moulds with plaster, sanding down moulds and enhancing details in plaster, creating prosthetic pieces from my mould using a variety of different prosthetic materials, then finally; applying my prosthetics.  I was able to use this skill in a recent short horror film I worked on,  by reusing the moulds I had previously created to make more prosthetic pieces . In addition to some short film experience, I also restyle wigs and provide makeup application for a company that hosts princess party bookings - my role is to wash and restyle wigs after the performer has returned them, as well as applying the performers' makeup where required.  I have also recently had a great opportunity to work with a photographer for a sci-fi themed look, which enabled me to specifically showcase my special effects makeup abilities whilst building my portfolio.  I have provided some shots from the short film, some of my mould sculpts and the sci-fi shoot below.
